i’m almost there! thesis installation is april 21-23. our show opens may 3!
i’ve made over 25 platters. i have 20 final platters to display, if i chose to display them all. some of them are still unfinished. tonight i decided to hang 11 of my finished platters in an attempt to start mapping out my display.
i unloaded my first 04 glaze kiln and i’m pretty okay with my results! some of my underglaze colors came out different from what i planned but i’m pretty happy about it!
so i started this semester with my white clay but i kept thinking about how i wanted to try working with earthenware. with a lack of epk it was like fate, so i made myself a small batch of earthenware clay to make some pots. so far i enjoy throwing with it much better than the white clay i was using at cone five. i’m not sure what will happen when i start surfacing my work but so far so good!
the end of the semester was good! i’ve got a lot of things to think about for my senior synthesis next semester. i’m not really sure of a direction to take my work yet, but i’ll find it. for now i’m back in connecticut for winter break for a couple more weeks, i’ve been trying to use my own pots and figure out how they work, and look with different foods. i also went to the studio to help make pots for the empty bowl project, and i plan on making it back there a few more times to help out before i’m back to maine.
